Program Release a success
At first, second and third glance, Program Release is proving a big success in the world of large enterprise computing projects. The result is that UW System and the Madison, Milwaukee and Extension campuses now have a new set of tools to vastly improve the way grants, accounting, travel and other processes are handled on their respective campuses.
Click below for details on each project in the Program Release.
UW-Milwaukee, UW-Extension and all other UW Campuses will also be affected by changes to some of these systems.
A list of audiences affected by this implementation can help you determine the impact that the Program Release will have on you.
Objectives of Program Release and this web site
Program Release, an initiative of the Vice Chancellor of Administration, fits into the drive at UW-Madison to foster a culture of continuous process improvements.
This web site’s primary goal is the help users whose job functions will be most directly affected by these changes. This site will also be useful to IT managers and development personnel and well as related administrators.
Users
- Anticipate changes to job functions
- Find training or other support, if needed
- Get contact information about individual projects
- Provide feedback at a broad level concerning changes
- Understand benefits or reasons for process changes
IT Managers/developers
- Track change request/proposals
- Find release deadlines (projected), implementation dates
- Read/post known bugs, issues, fixes, patches, etc.
- Find expiration of service dates
System Requirements
Most of the Program Release individual projects are compatible with the Oracle/PeopleSoft requirements. PeopleSoft requires a minimum of 256MB of memory, a 1GHz processor or higher, and a VGA controller with 800x600 resolution. The DoIT Help Desk lists the recommended browsers for PeopleSoft, see SFS - Recommended Software and Browsers.
Requirements differ slightly for the people who will use WISDM and JET, as part of the LAST project. Any platform is supported for WISDM (PC, Mac, Linux) and most modern versions of web browsers are supported (IE, FireFox, Mozilla, Safari, Opera). Some obscure browsers may have trouble. JET runs only on a PC running Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 or Windows Vista. It also requires IE 6 or above for installation and .NET Framework 3.0 or higher.
